Whether you are a parent, teacher, or youth minister, if you are around preteens
and teens, you owe it to them to know the facts about teen sexuality. You are
a mentor, role model, and resource for young people. Today, more than ever, it
is important that you know how to counteract the dangerous messages about sex
that young people hear every day at school, at the mall, on the streets, and especially
in the media.
Northwest Family Services has an online teacher training course (link to order
form) that gives you vital background information on sex, chastity and teens,
while also providing you with activities, ideas, and tools to help teach teens
about the importance of saving the gift of their sexuality for marriage.
At the completion of the teacher training you will:
- Understand some of the theological underpinnings supporting premarital chastity.
- Know current trends in adolescent pregnancy rates, STIs, and HIV/AIDS.
- Be able to list ways to promote abstinent behaviors.
- Be able to give concrete examples of parental involvement.
- Know strategies to effectively teach youth abstinent behavior and good character.
- Have knowledge and skills that are crucial to being an effective abstinence
educator
