Guiding Hands Doula Program

The Guiding Hands Doula Program provides free physical, emotional, and informational support to expecting mothers in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD). We understand that your journey is unique, and we’re here to support you through every step of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. All services are provided at no cost to participants. Our team also collaborates with Clackamas County labor and delivery providers to foster compassionate, stigma-free care that improves birth outcomes.

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous support before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas focus on helping mothers feel empowered and informed throughout the pregnancy and birthing process. Postpartum doulas also assist with emotional and physical care for the mother and newborn in the critical weeks following delivery.

1. Personalized Pre/Postnatal Support: Receive individual care through home visits, postpartum depression screenings, and a birth plan tailored to your needs.
2. Labor & Delivery Support: We offer continuous emotional and physical support during labor and ensure your voice is heard with your medical team.
3. Weekly Pre/Postpartum Groups: Join other mothers in recovery for educational sessions on childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn care.
4. Ongoing Advocacy: We work with healthcare providers to ensure you receive respectful, stigma-free care throughout your pregnancy and delivery.
5. Connection to Resources: We help connect you and your family to valuable community resources for long-term support.
