Kim Trigoso Harvey, MA, MSW, CSWA, CADC II

Kim Trigoso Harvey is a Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) and a Certified Alcohol And Drug Counselor (CADCII) through the State of Oregon. Kim holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in Administration & Management from Portland State University (2007).   She has been developing youth crime prevention programs and serving Latino youth and their families for the last 18 years. Kim practices in East Multnomah County (East Portland and Gresham area) and has an interest in Family Therapy, focusing on parenting, and parent/child relationship issues. Her influences include Structural Family Therapy, client-centered approaches, cultural anthropology, and empowerment and ecological theories. Her interest in family work led her to pursue advanced training in Family Therapy at the Minuchin Center in New York (2006). In addition, Kim is a program manager at NWFS and oversees six prevention programs in East Multnomah County, including restorative justice Teen Court, school-based substance use disorder treatment, family navigation, gang and truancy prevention, and academic support. She has been a field instructor for the past 10 years and has been providing clinical supervision for interns working towards their MSW.

Kim is bicultural (born/raised in Peru and has lived half of her life in the US) which gives her a deep appreciation for the acculturation process and immigration experience that Latino families go through. Her bicultural experience and background in anthropology (BA & MA) help her incorporate a cultural lens in her work.

This process happens through the family. I have repeatedly found that the family is the most important value and strongest source of motivation and influence for Latino youth and, therefore, the focus of my work.”
